I think you'll be able to tell that we live in Suburbia by how excited I was to take pictures like this:
Los Angeles smog
And traffic
And some nice grafitti.... or art??
We arrived just before 12:30 and saw a line outside CBS studios of only about 14 people. That was good news. Bad news was they all brought their own chairs to sit on. Who knew? We didn't. So we stood. It's a good thing we wore flip flops and saved these beauties for the show...
When we got tired of that we sat on our tickets on the sidewalk. The line got longer and longer. We waited for what seemed like forever.
We waited...
And waited...
And people watched. Do you just love this woman's eyebrows and blush? I'm sorry, but I HAD to get a picture! The best part was her punk rock choker and black witch dress. I couldn't be inconspicuous enough to get the whole thing.
Finally at 3:00 they started letting people on to the lot. For another hour long wait. Then about 4:15 they let us into the studio to the set. We were told that everyone is going to be sitting in the balcony. Only friends and family of the dancers and the stars get floor seating. If a reserved seat doesn't show up, then they will use us for seat fillers down below. As Jennifer and I walked toward the stairs to the balcony a women pulled Jenn's arm and said, "Party of 2? You're going to be sitting in the front row right behind Carrie Ann." Alright! We scored!
If we only had a camera inside. They confiscate your phone and camera before going into the building. Dang. It was awesome!
We got to talk to the judges... they are so nice. We got to see everyone up close. And, OH MY GOSH, they so much thinner in person! Samantha Harris is tiny, Edyta is beautiful! And Karina is even smaller in person and much prettier, too. We sat by Donny Osmond's son who is SO short, but seemed very nice.
They started pre taping the performances by the bands at 5:00. They pre tape because there isn't enough time during the commercial breaks for the bands to set up. So we saw Rod Stewart up close and personal... FUN! The Ballas Hough band performed, they were great! Then before the live taping began at 6:00, they let everyone out on the dance floor to dance. Very cool.
We really enjoyed it! We went to dinner at The Cheesecake Factory in The Grove afterwards.. boring, I know, but delicious. What a fun day it was! I highly recommend getting tickets and going! And dress nice, you'll get put in the front row.
But then I got home and watched it. And I look terrible on camera. Terrible. It does add 10 pounds. And I'm not happy about it.

OH KELLY...how fun!! Maryrose went last year and loved it! I t'voed it, and will look for you!
I watched it last night but didn't know to look for YOU. How fun is that?! I love that show and would have loved to be there too. Lucky you.
Kelly,
Wasn't it a blast. I went last year and had a ball. You got better seats inside though. I know what you mean about everyone being so thin...I was shocked how tiny they were.
We ate at an Italian restaurant at the Grove that the dancers frequent after the show. As we were on our way out Maks and Tony were on their way in...hubba hubba.
Derek and Mark were giving a concert by the fountain at the Grove that night. Now I would like to go to the Monday night show.
Looks like you had as much fun as we did. See you at the DWTS party at Kristi's. We can toast Maks (or whoever your favorite is) I taped the show last night so I will go and see that new celebrity behind Carrie Ann :)
Oh I'm glad you had fun! Your hair looked great, and you both looked so pretty! How fun to have such awesome seats.
Kelly,
I just watched my tape of DWTS. You both looked fantastic! How fun to be seated right in the middle of the action. Can't wait to hear more about it!
Love ya,
Kristy
was it donnys son don? ashley was engaged to him!!
I just had to go watch the episode online since I missed it. SO AWESOME! I cannot believe your seats. That's what happens when you're smokin' hot, I guess.
Katie, you have me laughing! but thank you for the compliment! Same to you, Mary Rose. I have such great blogging friends!! =)
Oh man, I'm so upset that I deleted my taping of it. I remember reading that you were going and I told myself to look for you and I completely forgot!! You looked so pretty, Loved the outfit!! I'm so jealous that you got to go, the tickets that my Mom used last year belonged to me. Bummer, couldn't get anyone to watch my kids because my babysitter went to the show!! So glad you had such a fun time and I totally enjoyed the pics of the witch lady, you had me laughing with that!!
That is AWESOME!!! What a neat experience!!!
