Woo Hoo!
Jillian went in early yesterday morning to have the cyst removed from behind her ear. I feared for the worst with her. She is one who likes to have her milk as soon as she wakes up and wants to eat right away. So I thouht waking her at 5:30 am and not being able to give her anything was going to be difficult. She proved me wrong. She was as happy as can be.
We arrived at the surgery center at 6:00 and she was taken right back. They took all her vitals and we put on her gown and she did great. Of course I forgot my camera, so poor Jilli-bean will look back and think we cared more about Derek's operation, than hers. Not the case, I just couldn't find the camera anywhere. (Turned out it was in the diaper bag the whole time and I didn't see it).
The doctor came in (20 minutes late) and talked to us about the procedure. Then the anesthesiologist came and got her from us at 7:30. She went with her willingly and didn't even look back... just like her brother. I was shocked.
An hour later the nurse came and got us. She was awake and once she saw us she starting crying.
Not just any crying.
SCREAMING. Kicking and whaling around.
We didn't get any pictures on our phones because it took the two of us just to tame her and hold her down. She ripped her IV right out of her arm. Blood spewing EVERYWHERE!
She wanted out of there. I think every patient coming out of anesthesia in the recovery room wanted her out of there too.
The doctor came in and told us she did great. It was just a cyst, but in his words, it was massive! He stitched her ear back so it will
They let us take her home after about 30 minutes. As soon as we put her in the car she settled down. We came home and it was as though nothing happened. She saw her brothers and was so happy. Running around and playing.
They didn't bandage her ear because she would just tear off the bandages. She doesn't touch it too much and it hasn't bled much at all. I can't wait to clean it up a little tonight.
And an update on Derek's foot:
Sunday Tuesday
What a difference 2 days makes!
We re-wrap it daily to check out how it's healing. On Sunday I looked at it and thought it looked terrible. By Tuesday, it was healing up so nice! He goes back to the doctor today, so I expect a good report. Hopefully the biopsy report will be back abd we can find out what type of tumor it was. Jason jokes that it's my fault our kids' have these random tumors and cysts, since I had the brain tumor as a child.
Hopefully Jillian continues her great recovery like Derek did.
I'm so glad it's all over with! It's been a long month full of doctor appointments and surgeries. Looking forward to no doctor appointments in April!

Hi Kelly,
Glad the new surgery went well. You certainly have your hands full. Have a great day.
HOLY SMOKES! I missed your last post. I had no idea what all you had going on this month. I'm happy you're on the tail end of it. Having children under anesthetic is hard. I'm glad they both did so well. And how are you doing? This kid of thing is physically and emotionally draining for a mom. Good luck as they continue to heal. I hope all keeps going smoothly.
Oh Kelly Ruth!!!! I am soooo glad it is all over for your little sweetie's. Looks like they are both doing great. Although......I sort of wish I hadn't looked at those pics while I was eating my lunch!! E-GADS!!!
Hugs....
Oh Kelly...you are such a brave momma to have to worry about two kiddos in surgery :(
Glad she's good. That picture doesn't look like it, but I know that she is!
Wowzers you have been one busy and I am sure super stressed out mommy this last month! I am so glad that it is all over and that both of the kids are healing well and doing good. Can't wait to hear the good news on Derek's tumor! Glad Little Jilly's was just a cyst! Everything looks like you have your hands full but you rock so you will be fine :)
WOW. I'm so glad that your kids are recovering... I hope you are too. What a crazy month you've had!
Kelly, wow. I bet you are so glad that this is all over. Two kids with surgeries so close together has got to be brutal. Derek's foot looks great and I'm sure Jillian's ear will heal perfectly as well. Poor Mama too, I'm sure you could use some rest after these emotional events. I'm sure your hands are full with two recovering kiddos. Hope everything goes smoothly for you!!
Hi Kel,
I could have sworn I left a comment on this right after you posted it! Don't know why it is not here?
Anyway, poor Jill. poor D. and poor you.
What a difference a couple days made in Derek's foot! It looks a lot better.
And poor Jill's ear looks like it hurts.
Hope she's doing better. We have some bubbles to cheer her up. Maybe we'll stop by this weekend.
Also, when the kids are on the mend, let's have a girls night out! I bet you could use one!!
