Untitled

I don't know what to title this post. It's going to be a whole lotta nothing all wrapped into one.

How could these cute little muchkins drive me so crazy??

Trouble is in her eyes!

And mischief in his!

1st off...
I hate the age of 6-11 months. I truly do. They are learning so much, which is great, but makes it very difficult. Again, this twin thing is getting on my nerves. They turned 8 months on Saturday and are as cute as ever, but definitely harder than I ever imagined. I thought the newborn stage was hard... this stage blows it out of the ball park. Jillian now has 6 teeth. The last four came in at the same time. James HAS to be working on some more teeth by the way he has been acting! Ugggh! AND, they always take naps at the same time. Gotta love that. BUT lately, I always have one baby up. One goes down for a nap earlier than usual, so one is up. Right when one wakes up, the other goes down. This is not how it's supposed to be! I blame it on teething and their colds. I hope it goes back to 'the norm' very soon.

All I have to say is THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, mom and dad! I'm blessed to have such amazing parents! My mom is at my house every single day. She's here at least 3 hours everyday helping me out. Whether it be taking Derek with her to the gym or running errands, or staying home with the babies so I can take Derek out with me to run errands. Or just helping me clean the house and get the babies down for naps. She's always here and I appreciate it!

Gramma gave Miss Jillie some cake for the first time. Think she loved it?

Then around 4:30 or 5:00, almost daily, my dad shows up. He plays with Derek, helps me bathe the kids and get ready for bed. Not to mention he usually gets dinner out of this little arrangement as well.

Now I don't want you to think I ALWAYS have help, and I've got it easy... that is SOOO not the case. Yes, I have help often, but I'm on my own A LOT! That's all... just had to add that in. You can still feel sorry for me just a little bit. just kidding. I know there are so many mothers out there who have little to no help by family, and I feel your pain. But I give anyone out there who has multiples a double high five. If you can get through the first year, I hear the rest is a breeze.

The weekend....

Friday: Mom came over. I took Derek to the Corona airport to watch the planes and have breakfast. Except the restaurant was closed. Looks like a remodel and it said it's due open on the 28th. Doesn't look like it will re-open on that date to me. There was much to do still. But nonetheless, we had a good time. Derek LOVES the airport!

I also went out to dinner and saw Love Happens with my good friend Jennifer that night. It was much needed! After the previous night of crying and feeling so overwhelmed by the kids, laundry, housework, and lack of time my husband is at home... I was D.O.N.E!

Saturday: Jason played golf. Fun for him, not fun for me. Another day being stuck at home. But I did get out again that evening, this time with Derek. I took him to see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. I wish we could have gone as a family, but I DO NOT take babies to the movies. I know some people do it, but not me. I hate it, can't stand if I hear a baby cry. Don't think it's a place for babies. We hate asking anyone to watch the twins since our parents help so much as it is. So Jason stayed home with them. Again, fun for him since they were both in bed before Derek and I left. The movie was cute, but Derek was getting sleeping so we left early.

Such a little poser!

A little too loud for his liking...

Sunday: Football day. The 49ers won again. 2-0... not too shabby!

Like father, like son... a huge niner fan in the making!

Jason had to help a friend pick up a TV and set it up in his house. He was gone 4 hours. 4 hours! They had to drive to Orange County somewhere to get it. It took 4 guys to carry. It's a 65 inch plasma. Come on now, 65 inches? Anyway, I was just a little irritated because it's Sunday. Our family day. And here Jason is helping someone again. It seems whenever we need help, everyone is always busy. Another UGGGGHHH! But it's ok, I'm over it now.

Derek spent some time at his grandpa and grandpa Castellon's house. I wish I had a camera when I picked him up. Cute stuff... he loves all their animals and doesn't come inside for even a minute when he's there.

Then came Monday... Jason left early for Las Vegas with his 2 employees for a trade show. Again, not much work going on there. Lots of fun, I'm sure! Meals out with the vendors, a trip to the shooting range, more meals out and hanging at the pool... maybe a little bit of trade show action... yes, can you tell I'm jealous?

And now I look forward to this weekend. My parents rented a house in Big Bear, so we're headed up there on Friday. We'll spend the weekend hiking, kayaking, and relaxing for my mom's birthday. My brother and Alyssa will be coming too, so the extra adult hands will be nice! I love me some family whenever we go somewhere with James and Jillian! I don't think we'll even have to ask if Jason and I can go to dinner alone... Troy and Alyssa are great with the kiddos and love to watch them for us.

Until then... I sit here awaiting Jason's return from Vegas.

Kelly~I have told you this before but I have no idea how you do it! I love reading your blog because it gives me a little hope that my day isn't THAT bad. (I complain about my 2...I cannot imagine having twins!) Hahah...so funny too, I have had to do the prop up with the bottle because I just don't have time to sit there and feed Gavin...glad to know I'm not the only one!

PS My stepmom works at the airport cafe..they have new owners and are totally redoing it..they keep pushing back the opening day and I know it won't be open by the 28th...maybe October 28th!! :)

They really are quite cute...all three of them. I know it doesn't help when you're in the middle of this, but one day, they will all be in school. I know when you're going through it feels like life couldn't get worse. But I promise, at one point you'll be on the other end and though you'll remember it was hard, it won't seem nearly as bad as it does right now. It's just a few short years that you have them all home.

And having family around HAS to be a blessing. Though I don't have twins, I had three kids in three years and they were all at home with NO family anywhere close and a husband working two jobs AND getting a PhD. I truly can sympathize.

Here's a quote from a blog of one of my friends who has twins:

Ray Ramano once compared life with twins to life in a frat house, "No one sleeps, there is a lot of noise, and a lot of throwing up."

I thought you could relate.

I love that quote Katie wrote. That is so funny. I'm sure you can relate.

I'm sorry it's so crazy sometimes. Thank goodness for your helpful parents living close by huh!? And like Katie said, I am sure when they are in school, you will remember these times as being hard, but not nearly as much as they are right now.

Sounds like Jason has been having a lot of fun. Don't let him talk to Jake, I don't let him out of the house. ha ha just kidding!

Jill is getting a lot more hair it looks like too!

:) We need a girls night soon!

Ahhh- twins sound like so much work. You really are super mom to be able to manage it all. I agree with Genn- let's have another girls night.

Kelly, I loved that action packed post!
Hey, you are almost to that magic one year mark!!!
About Big Bear...BE SURE to go to the new hamburger joint on the corner of BB Blvd, on your way up to Kmart.....it is DARLING! And BETTER than In & Out!!! It is done up in 50's diner style, mixed with Big Bear, and is painted by a local artist. I took pics so I can have my artist friend do something similar in the den. It is called Get The Burger.
ALSO.if you and Jason get to go to dinner. B's BBQ on the water is GREAT for ribs and tri trip. And On BB Blvd, the Basil Leaf is great. And our fav for a GOOD dinner is Peppercorn in the village!!!! Try the steak soup...to die for!!!
