Today is my birthday. The big 29. I have more wrinkles than I think I should. But that's beside the point, I guess.
Wouldn't it be nice if I got to sleep in? Ohhhh, yes it would.
But instead I am up at 5:15 am just so I can get myself ready to be at the DMV at 6:30. My driver license expires today. I can't renew it online because they say I need a new picture and a vision test. I tried to make an appointment at the DMV well over a month ago, but there weren't any appointments available until after my license expires. I tried to go last Wednesday only to find a line wrapped around the building. After waiting an hour the security guard informed me, and everyone behind me, that we wouldn't make it in before they closed. Nice.
Then of course they are closed on Fridays now. They were also closed Monday for the holiday. I know I've had time to do this but it's not easy getting a babysitter when I may be gone 4 hours. (That's how long a girlfriend of mine was there a few weeks who didn't have an appointment).
But you know what? I'm actually looking forward to sitting on the curb at 6:30 in the morning, alone... with no kids... reading a book until they open at 7:30. Hopefully by getting there an hour early I will be the first person in line.
Wish me luck.

Good Morning Kelly Ruth! And a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one of my very favorite people! The Grovers love you! Hope you enjoy your morning solitude, and we wish you a very happy day!!!
Happy Birthday!
Good luck at the DMV. The DMV is always a reminder that I'm getting older. YUCK! It was at the DMV that I learned I needed glasses.
Enjoy some alone time.
Have a great birthday.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELLY!
good luck! I know how you feel about the alone time....I love going to the dentist just because I feel I can sit back and relax!
Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!
I just called you, but you are at th DMV I guess.
Your post cracked me up.
First off, you don't have too many wrinkles!
Second, Oh how I wish we could sleep in just once on our birthdays!
Third, you crack me up about looking forward to alone time at the dmv! Whenever we can get it, right?
Have a good one girlfriend!
HAPPY BDAY! I hope you were first in line. Can't wait to hear!
Happy Birthday!! That's funny about the wrinkles. I pretend not to see mine, that and the gray hair that I get dyed every 6 weeks.
Joyful.
Good luck at the DMV, I was there a while back to get a new DL, I lost mine in my wallet and was there for 1 hour with both kids. Not bad if you get there in the morning, and I didn't even have an appt. I always go at least 30 minutes early to stand in line, it's the only way to tackle the DMV. Good luck!!
Happy Birthday! When I was 29, I started noticing gray hairs. That was my hardest birthday, I thought life was over. Thirty, forty nor fifty bothered me but for some reason, I didn't like 29.
Do you know in AZ, your drivers license lasts until you're 65? Crazy, huh?
