Derek's 2nd Birthday

Derek turned 2 today and Jason and I took him to the Los Angeles Zoo. Neither one of us remember coming to this zoo, but we heard good things about it. I like the San Diego zoo better. I even like the Santa Ana Zoo better. Most of the animals seemed to be hiding/sleeping. Derek still had a blast! His favorite was the bird show. It was a fun day, but cold! We had strawberry pie and he LOVED it when we sang Happy Birthday to him. I'm sure he'll love his party on Saturday... can't wait! It's now 6:15 pm and he's still sleeping. I better go wake him up or we'll be in trouble tonight!

These goats at the petting zoo were like goats on steriods! With Jason's parents living in Norco and having goats, you'd think I wouldn't be afraid of them... but they were huge! Then these two starting bucking at eachother and fighting. We left pretty quick!

Jason's wing span isn't quite as long as the California Condor's is!
