The next topic of discussion lately... a new mom-mobile or bigger SUV? I have a Chevy Trailblazer now and it's great. However, with only seating for five, 3 car seats in the back would be very tight. So I never thought I would EVER even think about this, but do I need a minivan? The thought of a minivan makes me cringe! But the practicality of it makes complete sense. Having 3 car seats, carrying 2 of them in and out, having sliding doors that open and close with the push of a button, and not having to be careful not to ding another car while trying to get 3 kids in and out of my car in a parking lot. That sounds great to me. Jason hates the idea too. But I will be the primary driver and I need to think about function. I would love a Chevy Tahoe or Toyota Sequoia... tell me why they can't make an SUV with sliding doors? It would be so convenient! My mother-in-law has a Tahoe and I love it! But I hate lifting Derek in and out of it and it's so hard to get back to the 3rd row. Then there is the the price difference between a minivan and a large SUV... it's about a $10K difference. And the difference in gas mileage too. I love the fact that the Chrysler Town & Country has bucket seats in the second row that swivel. So the babies can face the 3rd row towards Derek. That's awesome! It also comes standard with a DVD player. Very cool. But geez, they are such "mom" cars. Yuck! But I will be a mom of three. So please give me your feedback!

Oh I love what your server said! So true.
And as far as a new vehicle. I have a Dodge Grand Caravan (it's the SAME as a Town & Country but just a different name and cheaper). I LOVE it. Plenty of room and the automatic sliding doors I couldn't live without. Seriously, it's the best car ever.
to be honest, i feel the same way about mini vans. i hate them. lol. but i do know that if i was having twins, i would sell the tahoe and get one right away! they really are alot more practical, expecailly the ones that have sliding doors on both sides. how nice would that be!? and you can get them with the dvd players and all! i will still be your friend if you get one! lol. actually, a couple of my friends have them and LOVE them! shoot, i'll probably end up with one too! you will make a mini van look hot! and i LOVE what the server told you, that twins arent sent to just anyone. so true. these babies are sure lucky to be going to you guys!
I'm with Jeanine. I love that your server told you that. And you know it is true. God would never give you more than you could handle. Bottom line.
Next topic, the car. Kelly, you would be the hottest mom to rock a minivan that i have ever seen! i think you would totally start a trend. Other moms will see you and think, "oh wow, look at that girl, she's young and cute, and has great hair, and she drives a minivan. i think i want one too!"
Plus the added bonus is the money youd save on gas and price of vehicle.
Face it, you need a mini van! What about the kind that Gennifer got? I hope you have a boy and a girl!!!!
: ) K
I, too, LOVE what the server said. Well put. You'll be great.
I am so anti-minivans. I can SO see the practicality, but don't think I could ever succome. We drive a Honda pilot. Besides the sliding doors, it has all the functionality of a minivan...stow and go seating, DVD player and all. IT gets good gas mileage (as good as any minivan) and holds it's value really well. We've had it over two years with no problems. It can seat 8. with three kids, I thought we'd use he third row all the time. But we keep it folded flat. We can EASILY fit three car seats in the middle row. My two oldest can climb up into their seats with no problem. It is super comfortable. It's looks are maybe a little boring...you see a lot of them on the road and it looks like a generic soccer mom car, but I've been more than happy with it. I would definitely say go with an SUV.
But Genny had a great point. You really would rock a minivan. There is no way you would ever look like a typical minivan driver. I, however, look way too matronly....mom haircut and all. I HAVE to drive an SUV. It's the only thing I have going for me.
Who knew a server could be so wise...maybe we were too when we served, but didn't realize it? I think I vote for your Sequoia...not a mom-mobile-minivan...just my opinion! My sister-in-law got a Sequoia and loves it, it fits all 5 of them very nicely!
I guess you will just have to go drive some different cars and see which ones work best for you.
KELLY- I can't wait to see what you get. When are you thinking of purchasing your new MOM mobile? I like the sliding doors idea for you, but Katie's car sounds very nice and practical! I've heard great things about those Honda pilots from people.
AND MOM- if you read this- just to clarify- my new car is not a minivan....... it is a midsize SUV. But Jake did want to get a minivan. I was the one who said no on that. But I'm not having twins! =)
You guys ALL make me laugh! I love the idea of an SUV like an Acadia or Pilot... but I love the sliding doors on a minivan. Remember, I have 2 infant carseats to get in and out of on a regular basis. I can't believe I'm giving so many 'pros' of a minivan!!
I am with you I am anti-Minivan but you can't beat the sliding doors. You also might want to look into the new Toyota Highlander. They middle seat folds down under the glove box so you can have bucket seats and easy access to the third row. That way you could put Derek back there and the twins in the middle. Just an idea. You could totally pull off a mini-van though.
Well Kipper and I are not minivan people as well but if we were in that situation or when we are in that situation I think I would go for it as well. Swallow the pride for a few years while they are little. Pray not may people notice the "van" part and then as soon as they are all big enough to get in and out alone than go back to the SUV style. What the heck, for so many reasons the Van is the way to go! Also I am so glad that all is well with the babies and I am routing for one of each as well. How cool would that be? Keep us all posted for sure!
