Hahhah..Kelly I knew there had to be something to protect those presents and the tree! I can't keep any presents safe with my 2 year old and 7 month old! I have a gate like that too but it is outside, in the rain right now! I am going to have to dry it off and use it for the tree protection too! Great idea!
I love it!!! When Brett and I were first married and we got our first tree, he got some string, and about tied the top of our tree to the ceiling. I asked him what he was doing? He said you always have to tie the tree to the ceiling. I explained that I had NEVER seen that and we weren't doing it. Growing up in a family of 6 kids and all pretty close togehter, his dad told us the tree always had to be tied up! I like the gate idea..no stealing ornaments, opening presents, etc. What if Derek learns to climb over though? :)
Hahahah.... that is funny, looks like this is what I get to plan for in the future. How fun! Well your tree looks beautiful even with a gate all around it!
Derek does climb over it, and I let him. He loves Christmas, and I love that he loves it. But he knows not to touch a single present! That doesn't stop him from asking if he can open one, though... every sinle day, numerous times a day!
Great idea! James thinks he needs to touch the tree and ornaments several times a day. I told him that if he keeps it up then Santa won't come. So everytime I remind him not to touch he looks at me and tells me that he wants Santa to come.
Kelly I am LOL. Your blog is always so entertaining. When your kids are old and grown with kids of there own you are going to look back at this blog and laugh and cry, and the best part is you will have documented all of these wonderful events that will make wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing.
I love this... made me and Gene laugh, while we have never gated the christmas tree we have the same gate and have used it to block emma out of many things. I got so fed up with her one time while I was trying to cut out a pattern I sat in the middle and worked on cutting on my fabric inside the gate.
My name is Kelly. I've been married to the biggest 49er's fan known to man for 6 years. We have a million children... so it feels like that anyway. Derek is my very independent 3 1/2 year old. James is my happy, squeezable 1 year old, and Jillian is my snappy, already a diva 1 year old twin to James. And I can't forget my sweet Bella who we've had since we got married.
I like to cook, although it's seldom now that I am a mother of twins and a toddler. I love to decorate our home, again when time allows. I love to blog about the wild and trying times in our house. I love to get away from my crazy kids for date nights with my husband. I love my friends, I love my very helpful family, and that includes my one-of-a-kind mother in-law... how many people can say that?
I am learning patience, I am learning selflessness, I am learning showers and blow dried hair are overrated. I am learning this hard stage of my life won't last forever, so enjoy it.

Hahaha, oh my gosh, this cracks me up!!! I have yet to put gifts under the tree, can't wait to see how that goes!
I put our tree in our front room and fortunately, I'm able to gate off the entire room!! I'd be doing the same thing you are if I couldn't!
